--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ive got a 93 stang gt with a fresh motor. In low rpm's my car is lagging really bad when i hit the gas and sometimes backfires a little. Onces it gets up past about 3500 its fine. Ive checked fuel pressure and it is right around 40. My set up is is edlebrock performer heads, svo roller rockers, f303 cam, underdrive pulley, explorer intake, 70mm throttle body/EGR spacer, 73mm MAFS, 24lbs injectors, equal length headers, x- pipe, flowmasters. please give suggestions.

Sounds like timing could be off.

if its backfiring sounds like a timeing issue....

I have an F cam...it lacks alot to be desired below 2800rpm or so. Go from about a 2nd gear roll at about 3500rpm and its a haus though.

the timing is down a little low. i was told to set it at 8 by a professional (Greg Munn)(if you've heard of him) because it is a brand new motor so that could be a reason that it is acting like a little bitch in low RPMs. In about a weak i should have enough miles on the motor to consider it broken in so ill advance the timing to about 13 or 14. But its not that its doesn't accelerate at low RPMs, it doesnt do anything hardly until about 3 grand.

Thats just the nature of the cam, its powerband doesnt kick in until about 2800-3000. What rear gears do you have? I woul;d exspect you'd need at least a 3.73 with the F cam. THats what i have.
If the engine isnt broken in yet, then you probably havnt gotten on it yet, which is a good thing. But once you do, your going to see the cam makes a ton of power after 3,000rpm, it really plants you in your seat there. YOur going to see a difference when that timeing is fixed also.

no, he is wrong, your timing is NOT TO BE at 8* whatsoever, motors dont need broken in like you think. Put about 500 miles on her and ur set.

Set ur timing to at least 14* . You have a performance setup with your timing at 8* ??? at 8 * my car backfires and sputters at idle, so fix that
