like 10 minutes ago i was on the freeway with a 96-98 cobra and we raced kinda and once i hit like 100mph my whole car shakes and the shifter shakes too, not while braking. what causes this? -the road was good.

 

you only feel it at very high speed? strange.

 

yeah, feels like my transmision is about to fall off the car or somthing, im clueless as to why it shakes...

 

no clue if its only doing it at high speed.

if something was out of balance in the drive train, you would feel
it at high rpm regardless of mph.

maybe exceeding speed rating of tire? or tire out of balance
is only thing i can think.

 

Yeah, the only thing I can think of would be something out of balance, whether it's tires, driveshaft, or some other part of the drivetrain.

I had mine going 110 mph today and had it gased from 0 mph.........when I let off it made a horrible ratling sound right where the trans tail is??? Oh well it was pissed I guess?

I just laughed and said "thaT DIDN'T SOUND GOOD!).......HELL.its seen better days so I am not going to fret over every little sound......

 

U-joint maybe...sounds more like what r.barn said...out of balance tire or just not as balanced as it should have been....

I know ive done a 130 or so in my notch and it felt like i had someone in my trunk doing jumping jacks because of the lack of aerodynamics....but your car is much more aero than mine..so i dont think thats it....

 

Worn out suspension bushings on the control arms as well as worn out tran mounts and motor mounts will all do it.

 

If it's when you let off the gas, it's the u joint.
