TEMP
Yesterday I dove my car in high humidity and in about 85 F... The temp gage was half way up on the stock gage. After beating on the car it got really quiet and had nearly no popping when decelerating and had very little power. Do those weather conditions have such an effect?
Yes stock radiator. How high does your temp gage read in 85 temp.. ? Do you think something went wrong. I know the power goes down when the hottor the motor but normally the exhaust stays loud or louder when it gets hot. It got really quiet yesterday.
NORMAL My needle sits on the line above A and sometimes gets half way to M (L is on the bottom)
THis is in 100* weathing without sitting too long and without AC and at about 85-100% humidity in North-eastern Lousiana
I run a brass/copper 3 core with a 17" stainless flex fan btw. I would never have a 16 year old radiator with all that scale built up in it. Not a good thing, your fan clutch could also be wearing on you, the flex fan has nothing to wear (except early models in the 70's cracked blades and gave them a bad rep, i still have NO stress signes on mine).

ive sat in 100F traffic with the stock radiator and very "dirty" coolant.
peaking down at the temp guage i noticed it rising above the halfway mark
that same day (before that) my low oil sensor kicked on and sure enough it was reading no oil. im pretty sure due to the heat, the oil just thinned out. it may be in my coolant, i do not know. car is getting a flush tomorrow because i'd rather be safe than sorry.
my car normaly never really even touches the middle bar.
LX 5.0 i know there are no shops around ur area to work on a mustang, especialy your model/year but i would atleast flush it with a garden hose or a low pressure washer (u dont want high pressure).
if u have the money, a 3 core aluminum radiator would be ideal for ur car.

Oil doesnt just "thin out" If you have ever monitored oil temps, they normally are 220-240* anything above 240* is pretty dang hot and thats not going to cause your oil to just go watery. If it does, put something GOOD in there, not bargain basement junk. Personally, I use 0-30 German Castrol and love it to death in these hot temps down here in the south.
Yeah I flushed the radiator last year with a garden house. When I opened the lower left plug to drain the radiator it only dribbled and my radator was a bit white when I opened the cap. So I have a feeling my radiator needs a professional flush or something more efficient. Good to know that your temp also goes to that range. I know it is more humid and hotter in MA for dam sure. Thats my home.. I guess I should just chill and get that car tweaked out when I get it to the states!
