Default Tranny Advice!

Hey guys... well I'm pretty sure the synchros on my T-5 are going so i want to know what you guys would suggest.. Should i have it rebuilt or just buy a new tranny.. what would be the benefits and costs of both? Do you guys know of places to look for good deals on trannies? Any advice would be great... thanks

manual trannys cost according to damage if your going to get it rebuilt. in our shop one can expect to pay 450 to 750 bucks depending on hard part damage. if it just needs synchros expect the lower price. to save yourself some money pull the trans yourself otherwise expect to pay 300 bucks or so to have it removed and replaced. again this is just a general estimate.

The other option instead of a TKO(For a performance tranny), would be a G-Force tranny, comparable strength without the headache and costs. All you do is swap out the tranny internals of your T-5 with the new ones and you're good to go. Not to mention it would only cost you about $2000 for the Kit with upgraded mainshaft and new performance clutch.

I have a TKO500 and I wish I had gone with a G-Force T5, it would have been a few hundred $$ cheaper, less hassle, and shifted smoother. If you go G-force, send THEM THE TRANNY, they re-enforce the case (that is the problem with T5's, case flex allowing/caused by mainshaft flex and stripping 3rd's teeth).

Yea, I've also heard that about tremecs, people don't like the way they shift, or that they just feel weird.

My Tremec is awesome, the only trouble I have is shifting into 1st at under 20mph, its jsut a powerful bulky tranny, but I love her. Heck, my X gf was even able to drive my car w/o trouble. It does ok, the G-Force is just smoother and doesnt require a new setup to run.
