No such thing as free horse power. You still have to put labor into it! [8D]

i think the butt dyno has tendancies to lie to you,,you put money and time into something andyou expect results,,but a perfect example is my friends 95 Probe GT he had an almost bone stock car dyno at 156hp which isn't too bad for the car,, he then spends $5000 building the so called bad *** motor for it,,installs it and swears by how much more powerfull it was than before,,and come dyno day he lays down a pathetic 132hp,,, lota money lota effort and the butt dyno lied , i rest my case

It still takes an intelligent individual to run the dyno, things like engine temp, outside temp, humidity, bar pressure, etc. all needs to be the same for repeatable results. Alot of dyno operators don't take the time to put procedures in place for consistant runs.

regardless of all that don't you think if given $5000 to build a motor you could do better than losing 20hp even with a chimp running the machine, i would put money on the fact that you could.

what i am saying my friend made some bad choices in parts selection thought he had good results until he got to the dyno much like sticking a cutup tin can in your intake and expecting something out of it,,your preception of drivig it is different because you think you will get results

Auto manufaturers spend million, if not billion, of dollars each year paying engineers to develope better ways to increase performance and economy
Sorry but that's bull****. They spend lots of money developing just enough to make it look like they're trying to eliminate our dependance on oil. A kid from Cal Tech built an electric car (granted it's small and light) that does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and has a range of 300 miles on one charge. The technology is out there, my dad knows someone who developed a carborator that got like 75+ miles to the gallon and mobil bought it from him for a buttload of money. It's all politics, it's all about balancing the appearance of trying to fix things and keeping things the way they are. I'm far from one of those conspiracy nuts this is just reality. The whole pollution thing with cars is crap too when you consider that over 80% of the total amount of air pollution from internal combustion engines comes from deisels. So all these trucks and construction vehicles run around with no restrictions at all while we (making up the other 20%) have to deal with all the blame for the air pollution.
