Default aod/radiator question

I have a stupid question.... When I had my aod replaced I had the guys throw in a tranny cooler. Now I need to upgrade my cooling system(radiator/electric fan).

Do I have to get a radiator for an aod since I am running a seperate cooler?

you dont have to. a lot of people run just the trans cooler. some people prefer to run the oil through the radiator then through the cooler and then back to the trans.

radiators aren't specific for AOD/5spd. i would go with a 3 core copper/brass for $150.

sure they are. If you get a radiator without tranny fluid bungs on the side and you have aod then youre gonna have to put in an extra tranny cooler. If you have a manual trans, than you dont need to run tranny fluid lines to your rad.

alex

p.s.- as far as your problem goes, I wouldnt fix something that isnt broken. Replace your radiator, fan with something better than what you have, and save your tranny cooler if you are happy with it. The only problem i foresee would be getting it to fit with the upgraded parts.

I'm running a B&M supercooler tranny cooler with an aftermarket Brass/Copper 3 row radiator and it works just great. I've got it routed so the fluid passes through the radiator, through the external cooler, and back into the transmission.
