1993 cobra motor made 235 hp 30 more than the regular 5.0 ho. in 1993 the 5.0 was rated at 205 hp as part of fords new "honest" power ratings, ford was taking a bunch of flack about the 87 and newer being rated at 225 but at the motor the press never seen those high numbers. going rate was 210-215hp at the crank. there was a slight power drop begining in 1993 due to a new quieter camshaft ford installed in order to silence some of the valve train noise.
The Cobra motor was fitted better flowing GT40 iron cylinder heads, 1.7:1 roller rockers, a unique Cobra upper manifold and GT40 lower manifold. The better flowing intake tract was supported with a larger 65mm throttle body and mass air meter calibrated for 24lb/hr fuel injectors. A special camshaft was designed for the Cobra motor. All told the Cobra 5.0L motor was rated at 235 HP/280 ft.lb. Torque.
body wise the cobra had 17's new tail lights, new ground effects, new grill. and new wing. the strongest t5 offered in a mustang (no auto cobra's were ever made) was standard. standard 3.08 rear gears replaced the 2.83's in the lx and gt's. different (harder) bushings and swaybars, tuned shocks and struts, and 4 wheel disk brakes.

MM&FF did a test on a bone stock 93 Cobra and put out 265 at the FW....it was underrated.....

RE: Dumb ? how different is the cobra motor
^^ yes!
the motor will drop right in dammit. ,first you're going to need to know what injectors the engine has. second, you're going to need a maf calibrated for them. thats all you should have to change. the intake will work still, everything else will still work.
also, when you buy your maf, make sure you get one a little bigger than the throttle body. so you you have a 65 mm tb, get a 70 mm maf. got it?

if its a stock cobra motor your gona need 24lb injectors and a maf calibrated for them. if your running a 5spd trans your gona need a a9l computer if an auto your gona need a a9p. its that simple. have fun
