Default 5.0 problems

okay i am no mechanic. but i took my car into a shop to get a tune up- plugs, wires, dist. and this ****ing guy wanted 400 bucks so i said that is rediculous and walked off. i took it to another mechanic who went to look at my car with me and hes telling me that my intake manifold is leaking, valve covers leaking, and timing chain cover is leaking and told me he will fix everything for 4 grand. I also notice a huge loss of power since i first bout my car i can even burn out dropping the clutch at 4 grand.

how long will my car last on the road being a daily driver?

is fixing these thing pretty easy with the help of a chiltons?

how much will it cost?

89' lx 5 lug, rear disc brakes, h- pipe, stock under the hood.

yes the intake mainfold gasket and valve cover gasket are all very easy to fix with the help of chiltons. and shouldnt cost 4gs by any means. I havent had to replace timing chain cover but assume it isnt all to hard just takes some time

how long will my car last on the road being a daily driver? "i cant even burn out dropping the clutch at 4 grand" im surprised it has lived this long, remind me never to buy anything from you.

is fixing these thing pretty easy with the help of a chiltons? the intake is the hard one, the front cover and valve covers are quick and painless.

how much will it cost to fix the leaks? under $75 if you have a torque wrench, $125 if you need to buy one. now the clutch you are about to have to replace will be under $225 with machine work. the tranny you will need in a little while can go from $150-$1200 depending if you go used or new.

i'm not sure why so many people here in the forums that are street racing or doing burn outs do not understand that this stresses the car... stress+car=$$$$... drive the car as if you care for it... watch the fluid levels... and drive like a regular human being.... if ya wanna play race car driver, then dont worry aboot the condition of the car.... just worry aboot how much $$$$ you have in your wallet...
