Default another cam question

well im nearly ready to start building and ive finalized my selections on parts..except a cam. camshafts evade me for some reason. probably because i get to bored to read all the information about them.

so i'd like to hear you experienced engine builders chime in

my set up will be:

331 stroker
afr185s
holley systemax II
bbk 75mm tb
hooker super comp longtubes
24# injectors
150 shot n2o

so now the 2 cams im looking at are trick flow cams

one is advertised at 275/279 duration and .499/.510 lift

the other 286/294 .542/563

would the second cam be too big for my application? i want this to be a reliable daily driver, but i want it atleast in the 12s. is there anything else i should be looking at when shopping for a cam? i know custom ground cams are better, and will probably buy one ...but thats later on. thanks for the tips

I'd run the 2nd one. Just make sure you run the rear gear that they specify. You'll be in the 12's no problemo.

the 2nd cam would be better in my opinion and i would upgrade to 30# becasue of the n2o. have u upgraded ur fuel pump? ur will also have to recalibrate ur MAS becuase of the injectors

that cam is small compared to mine and it does fine for DD just make sure u get a vacuum canister as well and upgrade ur vavle springs to double springs. also what is the lobe seperation on the 2nd cam?

well almost any cam could do fine for a daily driver, its just going to be idling pretty choppy, moreso than I would want in my DD for sure

the lobe seperation is 112 degrees.

im not too concerned about the idle, as long as it doesnt die at every light.
