sn-95 dash swap into 1989 gt vert
this is the first post i've made. i signed up about a month or two ago and haven't really logged in since then. but now i need some help so i figured i'd try it out. i know there are probably a lot of posts on this topic already, so if you could even point out which ones to look at it would help me out a lot.
i am planning on installing a newer style dash into my 1989 gt convertible and there were a couple areas i wanted to find out about before i got into it. i read a little bit about the swap in a forum i found in a google search. then i signed on here and every search i type in i am told that it is not specific enough or there are simply no results.
the biggest concern i have is if all the mechanicals are plug and play, and the biggest area of concern for me of course would be the main gauge pod. would the speedometer, tach, fuel, amp gauge, oil press, and water temp gauges work or be an easy fix? or is it easier for me to just buy aftermarket gauges and run new wires. i know a lot of the mechanicals ARE plug and play, but i don't see how the gauge pod could be. also, my car has the 85 mph speedo but i installed the tranny gear to swap to 140mph speedo, but never actually did the swap. so my speedometer is off all of the time right now anyway, and before i swap that, i want to seriously consider upgrading to the newer complete dash, center console, and maybe doors also.
any help would be great or if you can help me out my pointing me toward another discussion on the same topic i would be more than grateful.
thanks
brian
