Default Computer chip swap

My father-in-law is a car guy .. albeit a corvette guy ... and I was telling him i want to start modding my stock 95 GT.. I told him i may start with a CAI or exhaust .. he thought I should swap out my computer chip first. I don't see a lot of discussion about this here. Anybody know what he is talking about, or if it would be worth it.
Thanks..

You don't need to start with the computer on the 5.0s. Our computers are actually quite good, maybe the vette puters aren't?
The stock computer should be just fine until you get an aftermarket MAF/Injectors and/or an aftermarket camshaft. Results do vary however.

Skip the CAI (the stock setup is a CAI) and move straight to gears. Gears will be your best bang for the buck. Then look into a H/C/I combo, and then exhaust. It is not until this point that you will need to consider the computer.

Yup, but it depends, do you have an AOD-E or a T5. If you've got an AOD-E in that 'stang get 4.10's, a custom built stall and a shift kit/valve body or a manual valve body and some sticky tires. I would then worry about your motor. If you've got a T5 get some gears, maybe work on that suspension a little bit and then a H/C/I swap. Good luck on your stang!
