get some paint stripper and strip all the old paint and then get a can of paint prep that cleans the surface of all oils and grease that can bubble the paint and then stray the intake multiple thin layers for a great finish

If you're just doing the wording on the top, get some 400-800 grit paper from Autozone or O'reilly's and it should be good to go. If you're doing the whole thing, find a place to get it sandblasted.

Blue, what happened w/ the powdercoating? change your mind?

ORIGINAL: dryvingnut

I used Plasti-kote engine enamel and some masking tape. Sandblasted the whole piece, put the red and black on then clear-coated the whole thing. Looks much better than before.

That looks terrible...

Well, I still want to powdercoat it but Im going to try to paint it and if I dont like it than I will have it powdercoated. It just sucks because the one person I called said $70 dollars but than after prepping it, etc. etc. etc.. it came out to almost $280 dollars. I mind as well just sell the one I have and buy a new one for that price.

Heres my painted stocker, starting to chip tho. Not too worried about it because a new upper/lower is coming soon. http://server5.ihostphotos.com/show.php?id=165705

thats a very nice improvment over a unpainted one, you took the time to make it looks like it belongs there, not making it say "look at me" by painting it all 1 color or using a high impact color like red or blue,
