98,000 miles on the engine.

ran finger nail up the side of piston wall and could not feel any ring ridge at all.

both heads are off now and cleaning up all the surfaces

By the way, R.barn, what made taking the heads off such a pain in the ***? How long did it take you, and what was the most time consuming/hardest part?

By the way, R.barn, what made taking the heads off such a pain in the ***? How long did it take you, and what was the most time consuming/hardest part?
The whole thing really.........
most of the stuff under the hood hadnt been touched in 17yrs so just
about every bolt on the accessory brakets was froze up. No easy way to get
to most of it.

The header to H-pipe bolts you have to get at from the bottom were probably the biggest PITA
and took the longest for just 4 nuts.

Nothing really complicated, just time consuming and frustrating.

Figure I've got about 12-15 hrs in just tearing everything apart and cleaning
up 17 yrs worth of grease and oil.
Granted I could probably get it done a lot quicker the second time around.

I figured I would just throw this out there that now is a perfect time for some energy motor mounts, everthing is easy to get to

Your going to buy a set of aluminum heads and paint them??? [&:]

Tell your dad you just wire brushed them or something! DONT paint them.

Houston we have heads ...............

Heads are torqued down, smog pump cross over tube is reinstalled
and ready to set rocker arm lash
