If you have an AOD you will need to have the output shaft changed. If its just a 5 speed, just change the speedo gear

You need a 21 tooth red gear. You can get one form 5.0 resto. They have a chart to make sure you have the right one.

Depends on the year of your car...In 1990 they changed the drive gear so you might have to change that too...I just did mine this weekend.
Anyway you need a 21 tooth driven gear (red) and a 7 tooth drive gear (yellow)

im pretty sure you need to change something else if you're gonna run a 7 tooth gear, if its stock you need an 8 tooth gear, its a white 23 tooth. However it wont fully correct your speedo, it will be very close ( the white 23 tooth is for 3.55s, none are made for 3.73s in 8 tooth drive)

Yeah you're right about the 8 tooth. That's why you have to change to a 7. Then he can use a 21 tooth driven gear and it will be correct for 3.73's. I had my gears done last week and then put a clutch in this past weekend, so while I had the trans out I changed the drive gear to a 7 tooth. My car is a 91 so it had an 8 tooth drive gear.

This only has to be done if he has a 1990-95. The 83-89 came whith the 7 tooth drive gear so he just needs the 21 driven gear.

I thought it was the other way around...90-95 came with 7 tooth?
