hey guys,look my starter has broken the top ear off.what could cause this? original owner has removed part of the flywheel dust cover.could this cause the starter to sit too far foward into the flywheel, causing my problem? before breaking it showed no signs of any problems. started first time no whining or squealing.thanks in advance

 

eh it happens. that's why the aftermarket ones have such a thick plate.
