Default Need some advice....my mind has changed...

Let me start by saying I have a 1992 GT with mods listed in sig. I know I was going to put a S/C on it some day. I wanted the Kenne Bell for it but knew I would have to save forever to have enough $$$. It has come to my attention that I can get the 9psi S/C from Ford Racing for a 1/3 of the price of the Kenne Bell. That includes all parts and tools necessary for install with a estimated install time of 7 hours.

So my question is this. I know what point I want to get the mustang to, I want about 500 hp to the ground. The set-up I was looking at instead of the Kenne bell was the Ford Racing S/C. Would I be able to use this blower at 9psi with a lot of supporting mods for example...heads, cam, intake, exhaust, no2? All this on the stock internals?

the ford racing s/c is a powerdyne unit and will break on you over time

save a little bit more money and go with a vortech unit if you arent gonna get the KB

I agree. I have a Vortech SC trim and am very happy with it.

Good luck.

please explain, I am not familiar with the 'powerdyne' unit...talk to me about a twin screw like my truck and we are in buisness but I don't know the powerdyne...
-how long is the average time before it breaks? How much can they handle before you start to over spin them?
-how much is the vortech? which vortech should I get?

You can get the Novi 1000 and put a smaller pulley on it to make approx. 10 psi. That blower w/ TF heads, track heat and a custom grind will make right around 500rwhp. FullAuto helped his friend build this setup.

^^ That was through an AOD also.

the powerdyne s/c is run on an internal belt drive and they are prone to breaking. My boss's car had one and it snapped on him in the middle of a race... THAT wasnt pretty.

If your gonna go with a vortech you need to consider what you want in a S/C... loud, quiet, lots of power.. there are a few choices. Most say not to go bigger than an S-trim, some recommend the smaller SC-trin... me personally.. i like the SQ/S-trim because its quiet... you dont hear it until you get on it. No annoying whine at the traffic light.

Also GreenHornet92, dont base your purchase on bucherbomb's numbers.. he is still running a stock motor and his old e5 heads are KILLING his numbers. So once he gets a new set of heads and puts a smaller pulley on the s/c... he should be seeing 350 at the wheels... maybe more if it gets tuned properly. i know someone running an S-trim putting down 500hp on a stock bottom end with trick flow heads

The Vortech SC trim is about $1600 for the full kit and I am almost positive that the Novi 1000 is the same. If anything the Vortech could be two hundred more. They are basic 5-6psi supercharger kits but if you get a smaller pulley you can get them up to about 8-10 psi.

8-10 psi on a 302 w/ a NICE h/c/i setup will hit really close to 500rwhp.
