So I have a question
my 93 mustang has 129000 miles on it. My dad said i have to many miles on the engine to be doin alot performance wise. I was thinking about getting an engine swap and transmission also. Would that be a better idea than keep the engine i have now and making it better. I would appreciate the help. What kind of transmission do you think i should get. I was looking at a B&M transmisson. What do you think

RE: So I have a question
the motor's are pretty tough i knew a guy that had one with 144+k on it when he started modding it and it's still going with a blower/h/c/i and i think he may had did a rebuild but that was after he decided to put the blower on.

RE: So I have a question
its just gettin warmed up. I wouldnt go throwin alot of nitrous...but thats just for the sake of the tranny. But as far as the engine. Its fine. I mean if it makes you feel better you can re-ring it and replace the bearings in it

RE: So I have a question
Yeah i wasnt quite sure. But i mean would it be smarter to get the new engine later or now. Because i want to make a lot of hp. The engine i want is a ford racing 302 with 345 hp and its only 3500. Do you think i should get that now or futher down the road

RE: So I have a question
Most of those Ford crate motors are hypereutectic piston motors (which is what you have now). It's one thing to get it as original equipment, but don't spend your money on a hypereutectic motor if you're wanting to make power.
I bought an 87 GT last fall that had recently had the motor replaced with over 250k on it. The previous owner (a guy I went to high school with) had bought it in 1995 with ~80k on it AND a nitrous kit. The car has been sprayed for >170k before the motor was finally replaced because of oil burning issues.

RE: So I have a question
if u want a new engine why are u even looking at 302's......351 is what you want.
and if price seems to be the issue nothing is going to be cheaper than building up ur cast iron block 302 thats already in it....
get it rebuilt and it will be ready for anything u can throw at it
