I think when we put ours in we had to push the clutch pedal. I think that we put the tranny in as far as we could and then I pushed the pedal and it went completely in. You'll need a 3rd person.
Yea, you can do that, but make sure your input shaft is actually through the clutch first. if its not the clutch is going to drop inside the pressure plate.

Will it go in far enough that you can let go of it and it'll stay in by itself? Or can you not get it in there at all?

How much grease did you put on the input shaft/throw out bearing?

Is the Pilot bearing greased up?

I fyou do have to take it back out it wont mess the clutch up. Also, like 88stangaruu said, make sure the tranny is as far in as it will go.

I posted a walkthru in the Tech section.

Pushing the clutch pedal won't do anything if your tranny is out b/c nothing is hooked up to it. Something has to be misaligned or blocking it....it shouldn't be fighting you that much.

If you have the cable hooked up and everything working properly the clutch will work. You have to have teh tranny or alignment tool in place though so the clutch wont fall. It does help it go in. We had to do that to get ours in.

Did you check the splines on the clutch to verify it's the proper disc. Cause it should goe in fairly easy.
