i am considering turboing my 89LX 5.0 HO and was wondering at what point the internals would go? (pistons, connecting rods, crank........... etc). thanks.

do internals first....its the best way to go

a rod bolt would break at about 490-500hp, if it didnt go first, the rings i would imagine or if you had detonation even once or twice under load with pretty high boost, a piston may crack or the rings just be destroyed by it. definatly the rod bearings would be shot all to hell.

i planned on doing some internals first, i just need to know to what extent i should go to on the internals.

dont spend to much money...unless you buy a better block.

Id go with a stock crank and some H-beam rods...that's all you need.

Oh and ARP bolt/stud everything.

The mains should be studded as well as the heads.

ARP Wave loc bolts should be used in the rods as well.
