Default Backfire Problem...Need your help and expertise

Alright guys, I need your experience and expertise for this one. I have an 88 GT 5.0 completely stock to my knowledge except for some flowmaster mufflers. When my car is cold I am having a problem with backfiring. Can anyone shed any light on the A.I.R. System? Should there be vacuum at the anti-backfire valve all the time or is it ported? The problem goes away once the engine has warmed up. Any help would be much appreciated.

backfire usually happens during a lean condition, I do not think the a.i.r. system is suppose to run during cold start mode or during wide open throttle, the most common causes are intake leaks, exhaust leaks, or air-flow sensor malfunction

Why do you have 2 threads for the same topic?

Pull the codes.

Again, as far as I know (speaking from a decade of experience with these cars), there is NO anti backfire valve.
Can you provide a pic of what you are talking about?
