Default How can I get my 2nd-3rd shift rpm higher in AOD???

My problem is, is that when I'm at WOT in 2nd gear the highest that it will shift at is 4,750 rpms. It seems that the only way to raise my shift points with the AOD is to get a manual valve body, or a shift kit, or a valve body that lentech or PA offers that isn't a full manual valve body. Is there any valve body or shift kit out there that will allow my WOT shifts to be at or around 5300 rpms? The manual valve body's with the electric O/D delete are a little expensive, so I'd like to get just a high performance valve body (that isn't fully manual) or a nice shift kit. I've heard that the Baumann shift kits are good. I installed a trans-go shift kit in my convertible and 1000 miles down the road my OD band went out, so I'd like to steer away from them. Any suggestions?

I would reccomend lentech valve bodies, the street terminator is $439 and can be cal'd to your stall convertor setup, it has electric O/D delete, and is manually controlled so you'll be able to hold 2nd gear to 5,000 +, from my experience and depending on the car, the powerband tends to drop off at 5,000 rpm's. Just my dealings though, i'm sure a lot of people have hp gains up til rev limiter/6,000.

^^+1

ur car is shifting right where the powerband ends, which is actually a perfect shift.

in another thread i explained how to hold 2nd gear to the redline but its common that it will slip into 3rd if shifted improperly

i will be putting in a trans go kit with a 2200 stall converter hopefully soon, hopefully that will help, cause for 5.O with 4:10's this thing is slow very slow..the motor feels strong enough just the trnas seems to be retarded. it shifts to early and if i manuayy hold it in 1st and rev it out then shift to 2nd it goes into second then right into third it's like skipping 2nd all together..now the linkage feels weird my shifter has P-R-N-OD-D-2-1-...my cousins 90 i seem to remember the shifter was P-R-N-OD-D-L..now my car was a 2.3 and not sure if the shifter in the car is from the 2.3 or the 5.0....in the end i might go witha new tranny over the wintersince the stock ones are so weak..have plans for a tfs top end kit and would hate for the trans to hold the car back.....i was told the converter makes a huge diff mine is from ford racing built by precision converters so i'm told if anyone needs i will go find the part # i think it retails for around 265.00

What RPMs should I be shifting at? Every time I shift to 2nd it goes straight to 3rd.
