Problems........

getting lot of noise from valve train, checked covers and nothing is rubbing
are stud mount rockers louder than my old pedstal mount?

idles really low, dies, backfires a little, no real power, runs rough with some vibration

no check engine light

thoughts?

time to take it to a performance specialist mechanic and have them iron out the
wrinkles of my install?

 

id take it in and get it tuned and checked to see if all is well internally.[&:]

 

Vacuum leaks, timing set propperly? Couple places to start.

 

ya i forgot you had your timing increased, maybe try setting back to stock and go from there.

 

double checked all the vac hoses.

timing set to 10* and 39psi fuel pressure w/ vac hose diconected at idle.

wondering if i got distrib off by a tooth or something.

 

maybe post some close up pics of engine or a vid so we can lsiten to what it is doing, or see if we spot anything wrong

 

yeah man, get that thing tuned. my car ran like garbage after i did a head and cam swap. i got it tuned and picked up 7/10th in the quarter.

 

Even though the CEL light isn't on, it will still show codes if there's a problem. Sounds like a fuel or timing related problem to me. Did you disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes or so and let the computer reset itself??? Is it spitting out any type of smoke???

 

If you can get your hands on a vacuum gauge to see where it's at that may help.

 

no smoke, exhaust does smell rich, and it barely runs
not even drivable for more than around the block.
