Heater Core Byapss
What is the best way to bypass the heater core. Mine just went out tonight it is leaking out the weep hole just below the coolent hoses. I was thinking either just put a pipe fitting into the hoses but i know they are 2 diff sizes so i have to be careful with that but also can i just loop it at the water pump?

replacing the heater core is no easy task. On top of removing half of your interior including your entire dash you need to vacate your a/c system to disconnect the box from the fire wall to even get to the campartment. If you take it anywhere to have it done prepare to spend $500-$1000 easy! Its all time. If you do it yourself your going to need a vacuum pump for the a/c system and new R134A.
If your looking for a temporary solution there is nothing wrong with bypassing it.

Heater cores can be a pain. I bought a 86 t bird with a bad heater core The first time took about a day and a half. The second time I did it in about 4 hours. I am not sure what I did because its been about 4 years since I did it but I was able to pull the half the dash back on the right side I had a friend hold it for me I squeezed in and replace the heater core. There was no damage to the dash and I was able to do it in lees than half the day. All I am saying is it might not be the right way but there are ways to cut cornners. ever since I replace that I never had trouble again with it even though I sold it about 3 years ago! Good Luck!
