How to make my Fox look like THIS...And other questions.
I'm a complete noob to Fox Body mustangs but I just bought one. I have some questions. Hopefully you can help. I want to fit 17x10.5 Black Deep Dish Bullitt wheels with 315mm tires on the rear and 17x9 with 245 tires on the front of my car. I want my car to fit these:
My car is completely stock.
Here are my questions:
Will I have to do a 5-lug conversion? What parts need to be changed with the conversion?
What are the quad shocks and what negative effects will happen if I remove them? Can I ride without quad shocks?
If removed, would I need to replace quad shocks with something?
Why are some people suggesting "newer lower control arms"? Do they replace the quad shocks?
What exactly are spindles? Do sn95 spindles allow wider tires?
What exactly do I need to modify or change to fit 315 width tires in the rear without rub?
Also, some non tire related questions.
If I install a Cervinis Cobra replica rear bumper, do I need to change the GT style taillights too? I've never seen a Cobra bumper with GT lights.
I appreciate any help given.

back spacing will critical.
recommend taking it to speciality tire shop
they can maount the tire you mount on a specail tool
that mounts to hub and can tell you exactly what back space you need.

Quad shocks are the small vertical shocks in the back
Yes you can take them off , and would have to to fit 315s
No lower control arms do not replace the quad shocks
Spindals are on the front of the car that the rotors go on, and no they dont allow wider tires
Yes you can use the GT taillights with the cobra bumper, the reason you havnt seen it is because it looks like s***! IMO

Hey, I dont believe that you have to go with the LX lights of you go with the Cobra bumper. I also have never seen anyone with a Cobra bumper and GT tailights but they mount in the same place so I dont see a reason why you wouldnt be able to. I wouldnt though....... go with a nice set of smoked LX lights IMO.
Also, people say get the SN-95 spindles because you need them to do a five lug conversion. You DO NOT have to do a five lug conversion though to use those wheels... alot of companies make their wheels in 4 and 5 lug. Look for 4's... you should find them with ease.

backspacing is where the center plate of the rim is positioned, you can move it back and forth
to make tires fit better
1. yes need 5 lug covnersion ...... you could maybe special order a set of 4 lug rims though.

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...gory=MREARAXL5
2. Quad shocks are Ford anwser to a weak rearend design and the control wheel hop
or keep the axle from rotating under power.
You can remove them by upgrading the stock rear-end control arms and thus
improving what they were there to fix. www.maximummotorsports.com has VERY good stuff
cost little more than others, but you get what you pay for. Read thru all the
info on their products, they explain all about the stock parts and their short falls.
3. Spindles are where your front tires and brakes mount to, since you dont have
a front axle. some junk yard conversion tell you to install SN95 spindles to do
5 lug conversions
4. To get 315's to fit, you will need perfect backspacing on the rim, have the fender lips
rolled, and maybe a little hammer work to inner fender well.
Take it in to a specialty performance wheel shop, tell them what you want.
They should have one of those special tools that will let them test fit the tire
and know EXACTLY what rim to order. It's gonna cost a little more but you
want something "special"
Here is also a good artcl on how to do without one of those

Here is the tool you mount to tire and use it's measurements it gives
you to order the right rim

RE: How to make my Fox look like THIS...And other questions.
just depends on how perfect he wants the fit, and how many headaches when putting them on.
ORIGINAL: 88BlueGT
Why would he need to special order them.... they are just black bullet wheels?
