wat is the small pipe that runs off my exhaust n up into my motor compartment and what does it do...i was drivfing the opther day and i missed a shift n it popped off..i put it back on but is there a way to eliminate it or do i need it

I think what you're refeering to Ive heard called sniffer tube. I think it is what pulls the exhaust gases up to run into the egr. It connects to a rubber hose that goes ino the smog pump. Ive not really studied the EGR system so idont know if gases are pulled from that pipe or not. If you have bypassed teh smog pump then you can remove it but you have to plug the holes in the pipe and at the rubber hose.

it does run to the smog pump, but really it runs from it. The smog pump pumps fresh air into the exhaust to help lower emissions somehow, thats all i know...NEXT!

my tube is just dangling under the car about half a foot..... Its the most unsexiest thing I have ever seen
