Bout To Give Up
Well both heads are off, cam gears are off, and the motor still freaking hits or stops. I seriously dont know what to do anymore. I know theres nothing in my crankshaft but im gonna drop the pan later anyway. Even when the cam gear is on and the TC, i have the timing marks lined up (i think) it still hits, and even with everything off it still stops. WHAT ELSE COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN?!?!!?

if its stopping, something bad is happening.
We really need some more info. Is the motor in the car?
What kinda motor is it? 302? 306? 331? 347?
Tell us how complete the motor is? Like how much have you gotten taken apart? What heads you running?
Are you turning it over by hand very gently?

Alright, well it could be the rings catching the sides of the bores, the thrust bearing could have worn and the crank could be sliding back and fourth. Try pulling or pushing on the crank pully and see if the crank will move forwards and backwards, that could un-bind the crank if that was the problem. And you can take the oil filter out and cut it open and see if there is any bearing material in it. THat would be copperish/bluish metal in the filter. Or the flywheel could be locked up on something, there are lots of possibilties. Dont try to just force it to turn, thats almost a gaurantee'd way to mess something up even more.
Why did you tear the engine down in the first place? Just curious.
