I think that some of you guy's need to take the time and the expense to learn how to build your own shortblocks......
Cost can be a lot but then if you build your own stuff you have no one to blame but yourself when things go badd.
I learned this lesson 30+ years ago......

It made the same sound as if I had broken a rocker arm and the pieces were rolling around inside of the aluminum valve covers but the car wasn't missing. I bought all the components to build my engine from DSS including the heads. I did all my own clearance checks and assembled the engine myself. I have to say their machine work was well within tolerances. The only thing I had to take to the machine shop were the rods and have the wrist pin bores honed to fit the wrist pins which is standard stuff from what I was told at the machine shop, other that that everything was dead on. I paid for DSS to balance the rotating assembly before they shipped it. A friend has a Coast High 347 and beats the crap out of it just like me, he bought it before me and is still running it. Maybe Coast High is the place to go.

man something just doesn't sound right.....blaming it on a tranny.(which i use the same tranny btw)
did you guys follow the break in procedure?
i have had my D.S.S. since 2002 of march...never had a problem...and trust me i am very abusive to my motors.
