It's good to know that when you drive your stang fairly quick its cleaning and it dissapates heat better than conventional oils especially when your foot's against the floorboard.
At 300k it's a lot cheaper than a rebuild so why not pay the extra money?

At 300K, synthetic is a waste.

It's worth every penny when your side job is autozone and just about everything is half price. =)
But I'm just a driveway mechanic I don't got the expierience that you guys do and im curious to know. What does synthetic have that conventional oils don't?
You read that they absorb into medals, they last longer, the *chemical bonds* form on walls of the cylinders but I mean is all that true?

Well when you don't know much about cars and they say how much synthetic does for your engine, and your only 17 and a driveway mechanic, im looking to keep my stang running. I'm the second owner of the thing and its got all service records from when it was purchased in '87. It's got 300k on it but it runs great and responded pretty well to a few bolt ons like a cold air TF street heat bumped timing and 3.55's, long tubes cats, x pipes and slp lm xhaust. I get about 21mpg with my aod and its my D.D. It's always been changed with synthetic oils and from what i'm told it's not good to change from synthetic to conventional. I work at autozone so why not run royal purple synthetics i mean i get half price anyway you really cant go wrong with that.

Why does everybody waste their money on synthetic oil? What are the benefits besides finding oil leaks? I personally wouldn't run that
+1 Its a waste of dough! If you do regular interval oil changes, which we all do since we love our rides, it just dosen't make economic sense. Do a search on it, been proven to have no benefit. And honestly if you beat on it you'll never see 300,000 with that motor.

5W-20 in the STANGS
10W-40 in the '66 (burns a little)

The Autozone here at the Jersey Shore, the manager gives me half off on certain things. He got me 4 decent 225.50.R15's for half my paycheck ( $155 balanced) =)
