if your going to go with 347, probe makes the best kit. the prob was since the piston is so much shorter, the rings are really close to the ringpin, and blow by occurs.

Maybe I should go Forced Induction...

I just want a stable Daily Driver, that can kill mostly anything on the road

OB, you can't necessarily have your cake and eat it too! Any engine mods you make can be reliable, you just have to use the right pieces and install them correctly and then take care of it like you should. Just remember that the more HP you make, the more gas you will use to make it and a daily driver with a killer motor is going to cost you an arm and an leg just to keep gas in it. If you're bound and determined to go bigger, since you already have a cowl hood, why don't you just go with a 351 motor or bore and stroke it to 392 cubic inches. Hell, Ford Racing Parts even sells this as a crate motor for around $6,000. All you gotta do is add an intake and ignition system of your choice and away you go! BTW, you will need to upgrade your tranny and rear end if you want to keep them in one piece! LOL How are you going to pay for this working in a car wash???

well going to a 408 will do that..but first you need to REALLY think on what you want the car to do be realistic here..we all want 9 sec cars to drive everyday but that's not in the real world..now a 11 sec car can be very streetable and not leave you sitting on the side of the road. this can be done with a power adder or not that's where $$$ come into play....a tubro is nice and can give you a streetable 11 sec car and be VERY reliable as trucks get 100k out of them...but that's a 2500-3k bolt
on on the other hand a nice 150 shot would be an option as you can drive your car anywhere and only used it when needed and these kits are around 600.00 but carry a expense of refilling bottle of around $30.00
now for a 11 sec no power adder would be less streetable but can be done with alot of planning but a stroker or bigger than 302 cubes would be in order to get there.
so it's a fine line as there is nothing worst than 500 hp and it over heats or is too radical for those pleasure cruises....suppension work can bring as much as a 1/2 off a car and still very streetable..something to think about

there really isnt a reason to go with a 331 over a 347 besides gas (which wont be that different). as previosly mentioned, they fixed all of the old oiling problems of the 347 kits.

roundman racing did have a good idea though with the 351W, and that is what im doing this winter. for about 1500 you can rebuild you 351W with high compression pistons, performance cam, and all other stuff you need to completely rebuild the engine (with a kit from PAW in 5.0 mustangs mag for $530), plus get a swap kit (1 3/4" long tubes, new engine mounts that lower the engine a little, all the oil pan stuff you need for ($550 from d&d automotive), a new throttle cable ($50 new), and do all of the fuel changing stuff ($270 kit from summit for carb conversion). that will give you about 350 hp and 400 lbs/ft of torque on a basically stock engine for only $1500. then add your heads, intake, carb, nitrous, stroker, or whatever you want to do to get more power. if you want to do your stroker now, you can get a different rebuild kit that costs less because your stroker kit will come with pistons. what i listed above is what i am doing. feel free to look for other kits online. those are just the best ones i have found.

Yea but, will all the current crap I have in my car work with that 351w?

Current mods:
[ul][*] 4.10 Gears[*] Ford B303 Cam:
. 397-M-6250-B303 Duration': 224°/224° @ .050'
. Lift: .480'/.480' [*] Steeda Aluminum Underdrive Pulleys[*] Edelbrock Performer Intake(1500-6500)[*] 24# Injectors[*] Pro-M Bullet 75mm MAF for 24# Injectors[*] Accufab 70mm TB[*] Edelbrock 70mm EGR Spacer[*] Chrome Breather Valve[*] BBK Fenderwell CAI[*] BBK 1 3/4" Ceramic Coated Long Tube Headers[*] BBK 2.5" Shorty H Pipe w/ High Flow Cats[*] Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers[*] Eibach Pro-kit Springs - Lowered 1.5"[*] Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter[*] MSD Pro-Billet Distributor
[/ul]
Mods to come:
[ul][*] 75 Dry Shot of N.O.S. Nitrous [*] Bat. Relocation Kit[*] MSD 6AL Ignition w/ Rev Limiter[*] MSD Blaster 3 Coil[*] Steeda True-Full Length Sub-Frame Connectors[*] 190 LPH Fuel Pump[*] 29-74psi Aluminum Fuel Pressure Regulator
[/ul]

I know the lower intake manifold won't work at all, because you need some different kind.

But is the upper going to be ok?

Anyone know how much horsepower the 347 stroker engine has in it stock? The 95 Cobra SVT down the street I want to buy has one in it. I was just curious as to what the stock hp is of a 347. Also, do you think the 347 stroker could keep up with a z06 vette?

I'll take a shot in the dark and say 15% more HP
Since someone said a 331 makes 10% more and half of 331 is about 315 and 331+15 is 346
so it sounds about right Right?

And with my car, making 300 at the fly if i got new heads lets say a 50HP boost making 350?

I'd make around 400hp at the fly

Which is about what a z06 is making right?

the 347 is only good for about 10,000 miles from what i heard, thats what they say in all the mags but if u want good decent power go with the 342 comp hawk at D&Dmotorspoarts.com u can either get it in a shortblock or a long block and its one step under the 347 and they say its not supposed to have the same oil consumption problems that the 347 does. i juss got mine running good and all i gotta do is get it tuned and dyno it im curiouse to see what it will make with the stock heads and intake
