Default Put in some bigger injectors and now it won't run...

I put in some 42lb injectors and it ran for 10minutes with lots of black smoke and then it died and I can't get it started again.

I'm getting it re-tuned but I was hoping to be able to drive it down to the tuners. Guess not, fawk.

Does this sound normal? I don't want to blame it on the injectors and needing a tune and not realize there is something I forgot.

I replaced the 30lb injectors because they were old and pluged. I'm assuming since the last tune was on those the settings were richened up to make up and now the flow great and even more lb/hr so it's pouring in. I could really smell the gas in the exhasut.

Thanks.

It have not had it retuned yet. I'm doing that on Wednesday. I just want to know if it could be anything else or is that the exact way and engine would run/not run with 42's and no tune.

The LMAF won't get "calibrated" for the injectors.

You will have to have the tune changed for the larger injectors.
That is just too big of a jump for the old tune to keep up with the new 42 injectors.

Let us know how it goes.
I have 42's going on soon too.

So it's normal that it won't even run?

Yeah, pretty normal. At least I would think it to be.

I think you will need to put the 30lb injectors back in to get the car to the tuner.

Sorry, to bring bad news. I know that isn't what you wanted to hear.

A mass air calibrated to 30's will not work w/ 42's!!!

the maf is what calibrates the computer for the new injectors. im sure the dyno tuner can fix your problem with a chip but most people just get their maf recalibrated when they increase injector size

you have to get a mass air flow calibrated for 42lb injectors... you cant just calibrate your stock on for 42's. you can by them at 50resto or any other mustang parts supplier.
