Default Tire size on pony rims

Hey guys, This is somewhat of a newbie quesion so please forgive me
I need new tires and I think I am going to keep my stock rims for awhile. Anyway what would be the best setup (size wise) I could do to give my car that aggressive look and still safe on the street. What I mean is what the smallest tire I can put on the front and the biggest (width and height) I can out in the back on my pony rims. I also don't know if the fact that I have 4.10 gears comes into play when picking tires?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jimmy

gearswil not affect your tire size, longevity maybe depending on how you drive, but i'd go with a balanced tire size (stock size is 205/65/R15) I'd put 255/55/R15 on it, you could go 275's out back if you wanted too.

he said pony rim.. which is 16"

I'm running 225/50/16 on the front and 245/50/16 on the back.. i like the way it looks.. even if you go with a 255 in the back you arent gonna get any more contact to the road.. i'd stick with a 245 on the back.

+1. That's the setup I have right now, and so far it's worked great. I plan to go bigger though - probably 245 in front and 275 in the rear, but with 17" rims instead of 16".

nice.. unfortunately with the stock 16" rim.. going over 245 in the back is pointless. if ya get some wider 17's on there.. you can put some nice wide rubber on.

It all depends on how wide the rim actually is. There are 25.4 mm in one inch, so you could get up to a 10" wide rim on a 275 tire (275/25.4 = 10.8). For an 11" rim, you'd need 285s.

Sure you got 225/60/16? That's an inch taller then stock. That'll will essentially make your gearing taller and your car slower.
