Default clutch whining

Soo when I start my car up it makes a wierd squeaky noise. When i very slightly apply pressure to the pedal the squeaking stops. Any idea on how I can fix this or what the problem is?? Thanks

I'm having a similar problem. When I start my car up in the morning (cold, obviously), and as I keep the clutch depressed, there's a loud whining noise coming from somewhere in the trans/firewall area. It sounds almost like a metal to metal sound, and it's a high pitched whining. Once I let go of the clutch, it goes away, and it only seems to do it in the morning when it's cold (or so I've noticed).

I was told maybe a pilot bearing or someother kind of trans bearing. Any ideas?

Throwout bearing?

My problem is the exact opposite when no clutch pressure= high pitch whining very light pressure= whining stops.

Most likely the throw out bearing is toast, and if you pull the trans to repair might as well do a clutch job.

+1 ^^^ An make sure you turn the flywheel also...

Are you guys responding to me or him?

I plan on getting a new trans, clutch, flywheel, etc when I build the stroker over the winter. If I just replace the throwout bearing, do you think I'd be alright for a while?

How long do you think it'll hold up right now? Is it serious?

if youre goin to the expense to pull the tranny an replace a $10 throw out bearing, i would spend the add'l money to replace the clutch... if you have plans to replace all the above stuff, maybe do it now before you build the stroker... or just drive it cool an hope you make it to the winter... both of you seem to have the same problems...
