Default '90 CHP...

Hi everybody... New to the site... Been seaching for several years now to some questions... I have a '90 California Highway Patrol Car... I know it was used a little bit north of L.A. running Interstate 5... It has a Borg/Warner T5 stick, it used to have a stock 8.8 with 3.08 gears... before I went to 3.73 gears, it would run about 1.8k rpm 4th gear doing 80mph (had it up to 130mph in 4th at one point, still had 5th to go with lots of pull)...
1) Does anybody know (or know where to look for info) as to what the gear set is in the T5???
2) Does Anybody know (or know where to look for info) as to what mods where done to the 5.0???
Nothing personel, but over the years I've been told a lot of bogus stuff, so if you have something real, I would appreciate it!!! Thanks in advance...

It's completely different from any other ratio's on a T5 (that hasn't been modified) that I've seen... I figured it had a 2.73 or possibly lower rear end, when I changed it, it was the stock 3.08...

you can look in the door tag...drivers door....under "ax" it will be an m=2.73 or z=3.08

the trans itself is a world class t5, as is every t5 from '85 and newer in a 5.0

the trans gears are as follows....
1st=3.35:1
2nd=1.99:1
3rd=1.33:1
4th= 1:1
5th= .68:1
r=3.15:1

a police (ssp is what they are) 5.0 only has the following, the motor is no different at all from a production 5.0

larger alt, ps cooler, diff speedo ? maybe stocker is 140 for '89 1/2 and newer, not too sure what else...but there is no chip, no stronger cam , nor any of the other mythological stuff people try to say. there is no "interceptor" motor , "interceptor" tag used on some crown vic's was not the motor , just to show it was a cop car.

@ 1800 rpms, you'd be doing about 45 in 4th or 65 in 5th w/ 3.08 gears and stocker 225 / 60 / 15 tires

chp cars are the $hit, you should go on ebay and find a gmp cop car, i have the '85 chp and '92 michigan state trooper

Snafu on the original- 1.8k RPM in 5th gear (stock 10 holes and gatorbacks)... Never been able to find out anything difinitive on it, alot of bs stuff (turbo, NO2, monster cams, ect)... The speedo thing is it's calibrated for every 2 mi , the 2.73's were put on the auto trans, 3.08's on the man trans(from what I understand)... 2nd CHP car I've owned, don't think I could go back to a regular one!!! Thanks for the info, much appreciated!!!
