while i have everything apart
well i blew a head gasket but i was wondering what all i should do since it's already off? i was thinkin getting new springs and upgrade to 1.7 rr's and maybe get the heads ported (I know i should just get new heads but i'm on a limited budget)
any ideas?
any ideas?
I added 1.7 rockers, ported and polished my heads myself and decked them .030 to up compression. I didn't add a cam because I decked my heads and limited budget aswell. I picked up 5 mph in the 1/4 along with 1/2 a second by doing those things.
I'd look real careful at the basic engine parts.
Head gasket do not just blow themselves.
Did it overheat?
I'd really look and see what all may be twisted/tweeked........

what happened was that i did a short little stand-still burn out then i drove home and it ran fine. then i cranked it the next morn and it ran like crap and blew whitish-blue smoke out. i figured it cracked when it cooled or soemthing. but white smoke is anti-freeze which is prob where the head gasket was blown at.
also when i cranked and it ran crappy the thermometer didn't move a hair. so it's not overheating
i don't have enough money to really do any big mods. just kind of a check up and a replacement on parts.
i want to add a cam but it would be pointless without a heads and intake upgrade anyways if i want the full effect.
i was just thinking bout replacing the springs and bigger rr's and porting the heads (stock heads)

If you have the stock intake, you might want to check the gasket between the throttle body spacer and the intake. It houses coolant through it and if it leaks it is sending coolant through all your cylinders. You can easily check by pulling all plugs and check for green. If they all have green then it is probably that gasket! Happened to me once.
