Default New MAF sensor???

Does anyone know where I can get a brand new MAF sensor, not the housing, just the sensor. I've got a pro-m 75mm bullet MAF. I bought mine used about a year ago and now it's giving me problems, cleaning it every week helps, but I think that it's just kinda screwy. I tried swapping the sensor that I'm running now with a stock motor craft one, but I think that the motorcraft one is in worse condition. But anyways here's my questions...

1. Can I use a stock (motorcraft) MAF sensor in the pro-m housing??? Or would I have to get a new pro-m sensor???
2. Where can I get just the sensor at and not the entire assembly????

Could a bad MAF sensor cause my times to be really slow?

It just idles horribly with the the Motorcraft one as opposed to the pro-m one, but it never did that before when it had a stock MAF. Does a computer need to relearn a diff. MAF sensor???

the stock electronics are different from the pro-m's electronics. your pro-m is larger then stock. this means if you use the stock electronics on a pro-m, the car would run lean because more air is going into the engine then the computer thinks. that would explain why it doesnt run right. if the electronics dont work right, send them into pro-m to have them fixed

Not all MAS sensors are the same.

The Ford part for the fox 5.0 HO should be F1ZF.
This will be "branded" into the top of the MAF.
This mas did come on other vehicles as well.
the 3.8 taurus and some thunderbirds are a few examples.

I always thought that the Pro-M MAS was the part that was cal'd for the injector size.
If this is true then your only option will be to call Pro-M for a new MAS.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.

unfortunantelly you can't do that because Pro-M is out of business. But, I kept the 75mm chrome pro-m housing and swapped the MAS off of my convertible into it and it runs great. Not much of a rotten egg smell anymore (rich), and it seems to be keeping me back in my seat more. It's really hard to tell how good it runs when you are 20 miles away from pavement. It sucks, through all 3 gears it'll get sidewayz, it'll even do it a little in OD but it's not bad.

It may work, but it's not RIGHT.
Most likely you ae eating up the adaptive abilty of the eec with the parts mismatch.

Pro-M did go out of business, but another company is maintaining the Pro-M product line.
There is still support for your meter.
I don't remembe the name of the company right now, but Google will find them.

1. NO, you have to get a new sensor from Pro-M
2. The new company maintaining pro-m stuff... http://www.massairsystems.com/
3. Yes, a bad MAF can cause slower times by screwing up the afr.

How is it not right if it's working better, seems every bit of right to me. It's just like using the stock MAF just a larger housing, what's wrong with that???

The Pro-M method of "calibrating" to an injector size is to modify the voltage output of the mas sensor. This means that the voltage output of the mas will be different depending on what size injectors the mas was cal'd for.

There is no gaurantee that the voltage output of the Pro-M mas will be the same as the Ford mas.

If this works for your car it is purely by coincidence, and I do not recommend any one else expect to get the same results.

However, I think you will get better results by getting the correct mas.

If that doesn't make sense then read the post by luckythirteen again.

Your options are to get a new MAF tube with new MAS, or get a new MAS from Pro-M (Pmas is the new name?)
