5.0 and snow... Possible?

RE: 5.0 and snow... Possible?
well when the most snow you've ever seen in person was 4 inches you kinda wish you had some snow atleast once. i guess its not even snow its more like slush. the awesome thing about not having snow is no salt to rust your cars, and down here you have to drive everywhere. since i don't ever deal with snow i've never heard of the sand bags in the trunk thing before. its all new to me. does it even help at all?

Yeah, it keeps your tires more firmly planted to the ground. That's why people put stuff in the beds of their pickups during the winter...because pickups are light in the *** and the extra weight helps traction.

I usually just put 4 cinderblocks in my trunk. Worked pretty well just gotta watch them from topping over in the back of the car and chewing your interior apart. I learned the hard way. I use sandbags now

I live in central Ontario Canada. We get foot after foot of snow. I drove my 1990 all 4 seasons until I bought a 4x4 3/4 ton PSD in 1999. Just make sure you put 4 snow tires on, keep the revs down, don't use the brakes if it gets out of shape. I even towed a snowmobile trailer at times[8D]. If you have a lot of salt, it will ruin your aluminum rims.

Drove my 01 one winter, it was pretty hairy but I am from Canada and live in the Rocky Mountains with a average snowfall of around 20 feet per winter. Needless to say I never did it again.

live in upstate NY and we get average of 200 inches snow a year and i'd never drive a mustang in the winter.... but in PA you'll be okay if you use common sense, try to buy a winter rat though you have a few months before the good stuff gets here, or else wear a helmet when your driving you stang.... LOL i cant wait to snowmobile.

I'm in NH and when I had my 86 it was my only car. I had studded snows on all 4 corners and about 100 pounds of sand in a big wooden box over the rear tires. I could get around okay, but I had to be real careful, it didn't take much to get it bent out of shape in the snow. A lot of it is in how you drive though, I was 19 then and looking back I was really not the greatest driver. I have a 4x4 truck for a daily driver, so my mustang and my FJ40 get to spend the winter cozy in the garage. Road salt is evil to cars. My 2005 tacoma has more rust underneath than my 85 mustang that's never seen snow.

yea road salt is terrible. Down here most people wont even go and look at a car from the north. Everyone knows the cars are eat to pieces, especially around the wheel wells and floor pans.
I wouldnt drive my car in the snow. Id buy a cheap *** civic and try to make it rust [sm=lildevil.gif], drive down the saltiest roads you can find.

if you have snow tires and drive smart it's no problem at all. My car went through snow great and i had 245 wide tires on it, and I didnt have any extra weight in the back. Only problem you may have is going up a steep hill with snow on it like someone else said, but everything else is very doable.
