Finally in the family....few questons though
Hey Guys I just bought an 86 5.0 and I have a few questons for you. I searched it on carfax and its says its and 86 5.0 lx/gt, arent the lx and gt two different models so whats an lx/gt.
Well I got it home and tryed starting it after a few check ups but it wouldnt start. So I replaced the starter soliniod and it would atleast turnover but I wired it wrong and it wouldnt stop turning over unless I disconnected the battery. So I bought a new solinoid and its turning over now when i turn the key so everything is all right. But it just wont start, i used allitle starting fluid and it wanted to start real bad but it wont. By the way it sat for a rela long time so does anyone have any ideas on what it can be or where I should start.
Thanks

gt is just a heavy body kit
as for your other question it can be a number of things. start with a full tune up. not a basic one. change the pick up coil too.

Not until '87 was an LX offered with a 5.0L. ANd thats also the year when the GT's got the heavy body kit.

wow I should read more thorough, I don't know why I though i read 88
ORIGINAL: P Zero
Not in 86. In 86 ONLY the GT's came with a 5.0L. LX's were either 4 or 6 cylinders. The main difference was the interior, GT's had recaro style seats, and different dash. The GT's also had a differenet front bumper cover that had foglight openings. THey also had a spoiler, and 15" 10 hole rims.

AInt no thing, the '86's are kinda dear to me, they look just like my car . And I think it was a technical oversight on his part, he's very knowledgable .
