Default What to consider

So i am about to buy a '92 lx 5.0 from one of my relatives. He has poured about $7-8,000 into the suspension, but the only thing he has done to the engine is put headers. I used to be into hotroding turbo volvos, but now i have moved on to bigger engines, 2.4 liter to 5.0 brings it to a whole different level of performance upgrades. Im not looking to spend really more than maybe $1500, and was wondering what would be the best bang for the buck engine wise. Thanks for helping me and tolerating my newness to this type of engine. Thanks for the help. Oh and nitrous is out of the question since this is going to be adaily driver.

8K on suspension !?!? Thats unheard of man lol What kind of suspension is it? Better be hand made lol

Anyway, for that price you can throw an extra 500 dollars onto that limit and get a blower...

or just get exhaust, gears, free mods (bump timing, air silencer), cai, pulleys, tb, etc.

Id go with the Trickflow Street package. It runs about 2grand, and you will see a very nice increase in power. If you odnt have gears, you should get those. No hp increase, but biggest bang for the buck. Run you about 600 installed. After that id get a new midpipe and catback. I dont know if any of this has already been done. If he has put 7grand into suspension, he has probly done gears and exhaust too.

Get a Paxton Novi 1000 and throw a 8" renegade pully on it. That should set you back in your seat a little bit It'll run you about $2000 for the whole kit and everything you need with it. Cant beat that.

well i said that wrong, he estimate $7-8000 for everything not including the headers, so that also includes some engine and tranny work as well as all the labor for the whole project.. Yah its my uncle that did this. he made it for his son and thought it handled terribly so he went crazy on everything he could think off to make it handle better. I dont know much about bigger engines, but isnt supercharging a better way to go on larger engines? What would you rough out an estimate for a blower or supercharger setup? Ive never actualy added one... just upgraded it. I dont have a good price gauge for these kinds of things since for a volvo something even as small as a turbo upgrade could easily hit $1100 for a used blower.
