Default t-5 trans oil change

I want to change the trans fluid on my t-5. Can someone walk me through it?

First off, what size of "square" peg socket do I need to crack the 2 plugs?

Should I do it with the trans/car hot or cold?

what is the best way to fill it?

through the shifter hole? Some creative way from underneith?

use a 3/8" rachet to open up the 2 swuare plugs. the rachet fits right in there.

as far as draining, you can do it cold just make sure to give it enough time to all drain out.

for filling you can get a cheap hand pump that sscrews on top of a quart of fluid at any auto parts store. otherwise i'm not sure how else to fill it.

you can also fill it from the top, when I dropped the trans to replace the clutch I filled it from the shifter base

^^Yup. removing the shifter is the easiest way to fill it w/o getting a pump. put the bottom plug back in and fill slowly until it comes out the top one, then put it back in and put your shifter back on and you're done.

for a true transmission flush and fill you'd need to drop the tranny from the car, your only going to be changing 3-4 quarts out of the pan, not the full 13 qts, but ut still will help. And filling it threw the shifter base is the easiest way to do so.

T-5's take about 5 qts of ATF(Dextron III) oil depending on how is left in after draining. AOD's take about 13qts.
ATF is relatively easy to pour (low viscosity), so you can squeeze it out into the top hole or run a long tube from the pass side engine compartment and pour in from their.

T5 is a manual tranny and only takes 2 3/4 quarts....maybe closer to 3 if it's bone dry.

And, yes, the Mercon/Dexron III ATF is what you use.

Running the car for a little while would make it thinner and drain faster...but it's not that thick to begin with so it doesn't really matter.
