Default 351 in a fox

Now I can get a hold of a 69 351w HO. And a 71 351w HO. I am curious about how a roller cam and lifter would work in one of those blocks. Kind of unsure of either block being compatable with a roller cam. Any input fellas? Make that any good input. LOL.

if you do a 351 swap, and I understandthey have the same firing order as the 302 in the years you mentioned.

you dont have to worry about too much at all , look at this website. Just get your 351 engine, oil pan swap part, harmonic balancer swap part, flywheel swap part, headers swap part, intake lower for a 351 fuleinjected car and crownvictoria distributor for 351, and you will be very happy.
I image you will spend $ 1000 in parts and have years of happiness

here is why i told you not to worry, Im an engine fanactic, and I cant wait till next year !

Snag that 69 block as soon as you can. They are the strongest production blocks. The 71 is no slouch but the 69 should hold a little more.

You can run roller cams on the pre75 blocks, but it takes some work.

The options are...
1. Get a small base circle cam and use the factory 302 roller lifters
2. Get link bar roller lifters and use a standard base circle cam

The small base circle cams put more stress on the valve train than standard base circle cams. Also, there are not as many cam profiles available for the small base circle cams.

The link bar lifters are available from the aftermarket, but they are pricey. ~400 IIRC

I have a 74 block and went with the small base circle cam. I will probably be swapping that for the link bar setup soon though.

Check out my website. I have a 351w Fox Body swap FAQ which should answer most questions.
Feel free to contact me if you need more info.
