I was taking some parts out of my parts car for a friend and he pointed this out It's some sort of light and it looks factory does anyone else have this thing in thier car?

The parts car is a 1993 2.3 liter auto car if that helps

Are they supposed to just come on when you flip them down? I can't figure out how to get mine on and I'm thinking the bulb might be burned out.

ya i have one of those, its great when you need to point light into another part of the car.

if it doesnt come on you can try touching the little plastic piece where the lamp was, when mine doesnt come on i just move it around a little and it comes on

if it doesnt work, the contacts in the switch are probably dirty. happened to mine. took it apart and clean the contacts with sandpaper, and it works.

I love that map light, I think it gets more attention from passenger than anything else!

what years did they have the map light? my 92 doesnt have it. a friend said that the light in my car is from a late model explorer
