Drive a stock Mustang w/a manual and one w/an automatic, the manual will feel and be quicker than the AOD car. Slushboxes are only good on purpose build drag cars, w/a properly built trans, NOT the stock tranny.

if you do get the auto, make sure you get a shift kit for it- Transgo. I purchased my 95 Gt, wanted a manual, but couldnt pass on it with only 46,000 original miles. The auto is fun to drive as well, with a shift kit, Im shifting it from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc without the need of a clutch. Best thing I have done with my auto is the shift kit.. well, that and gears.....

Better yet get a high performance VB. And yes the AOD's are peices of crap when they're stock. And TV reception has EVERYTHING to do with life of your tranny!!!! If it can't get all of it's station's in, it gets unhappy and it will fail on you.

I ended up with an AOD because the price was right on the car. I also heard from a few people that automatics are better for drag racing (more consistent) and thats one of the main reasons I bought the car.

autos are great for the track... just not the stock ones. I constantly get blown away by manual fox stangs... usually by a second or so.

A guy with the same car as me (same color even) with not as many mods and a 5 speed ran 14.9 with his girlfriend in the car compared to my 15.5 with just me in the car. He has better gears though.
