RE: Stock 302 withstand 6500rpms?
easton, is that 6400 looking at the stock tach? i cant remember if you had an autometer tach.
you cant go by the stock tach because its not accurate. i have my rev limiter set to 6000rpms (msd pulls timing and pms pulls fuel). i hit my rev limiter a couple days ago and the stock tach read right about 6500rpms. the stock tach just isnt accurate. my pms says i idle at 890rpms, the stock tach says i idle at 1000rpms

your not benefiting from shifting that late powerband on stock 5.0 is usually around 5400, and over revving causes bent pushrods and vavles, if u dont belive me if i can find the pushrod i took out of a 5.0 ill post a picture, to rev higher and benefit from it look into new heads, intake, pushrods, balancer, and a good internal balance, i can currently rev 7,200 safely on my 331 stroker but shift at 6,800 for powerband

Honestly, I really don't care about the motor....if it goes up........ I want it to go big..............a 331 will fit perfect right in......
