Hey guys I wanted to know if the inertia switch in the trunk is suppose to click when i turn the key over half way. Its not so im wondering if thats why my car wont start. Also its an 86 5.0 and i was wondering if it has 1 or 2 fuel pumps?

the intertia switch is supposed to click when there is a heavy impact. Otherwise you should never know its there. jump the two pins of the connector (i assume you have found it) and if it is bad or tripped, your car will start. Your mustang has one fuel pump (in tank).

ok cool...also where can I get a new switch. I replaced the fuel pump relay but I still cant hear the pump prime?
So im going to relplace the interia switch and then if nothing ill do a new fuel pump. If I spray some starting fuel in I cant get it to start for a fe seconds but then it just dies again.

I have never heard mine click. I have a cut off switch for my fuel pump, turn on key, turn on pump, listen to whine, start engine. Sweet.

I'd run a hot-wire to the pump directly from the battery to see if its a bad pump or not before I start replacing relays and switches.
