Default True locker?

How much would a true locker help out with traction? Is it as hard on tires as what everyone says?

With a locker you'll get full and equal traction to both rear wheels all the time. Great for straight-line shots, not so great for turning. That's why most street-driven cars have a limited slip, so when turning the outside tire can spin faster than the inside tire. The only thing I can think of is it may cause more wear on the rear tires when you turn, but don't take my word for it because I really don't know for sure what effect it has.

I would also think it's easier to break the rear tires loose during a turn with a locker.

I have a spool (fully locked diff.) and I drive on the street all the time, it turns fine too but the tires chirp when I make a tight turn.

Ok, I'm just trying to figure out some traction mods. I already have 295's, upper and lower control arms. What else would help?

get an Auburn Pro posi differential and you'll have the traction capability of a locker with the ability to slip making turns so you won't scrub your tires in the turns. spools are no good on the street, they're a strip only thing unless you like buying new tires.

I was'nt saying he should get a spool, your right they are not good for a daily driver, but I only drive the Nova one or two times a week (if I am lucky). That and I have been known to push the defination of a "street" car

There's a difference between a spool and a locker. If you're not getting on the gas, lockers will allow a difference in tire speed. But if you're standing on the gas then yes, they're going to lock together. A spool though, won't.
