For the cam swap...

For the cam swap...
Never done a cam swap before but I'm mechanically inclined and I've got the tools to do it. Here's my list:
1. Cam (undecided but I'm thinking about the TFS stage 1), I won't have to do any notching or anything if I go with the TFS stage 1?
2. Ford racing hydraulic roller lifters (I have these already brand new in the box)
3. Gaskets (Fel-Pro timing cover gaskets: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku )
4. Timing chain and gears (This one or something similar: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku )
I'm sure that the cam will come with the break-in/assembly lube so I won't need that. I'm questioning the Valve springs though, I don't think that I would need new ones with this small of a cam and the motor doesn't have all that many miles on it (93,000). But if I do need some stiffer springs I'll probably just say forget about it because our valve spring compressor only works if you have the head off and I really don't feel like going through all of that trouble just to change the springs. Any of you guys run a small cam on stock springs??? I'm hoping that it'll work, I don't think that I'll get valve float. Anything else guys????

RE: For the cam swap...
as posted in your other thread, with the TFS it will float the valves above 5000.
Also a heads up, the TFS cam didnt come with any lube... you can get it at any local autoparts store for around $3

RE: For the cam swap...
I've got my TV cable set to shift at 5,000 rpms so it won't be a big problemo, but the stage 1 comes alive in 2,000-5500 rpms so I guess that means I'll have to tighten up the TV cable a little more. Are there any cams out there with a power band from like 1500-5000 rpms?

I'm not worried, I was just wondering if they made a cam that wouldn't float with the stock springs. But anyways should I just go with the TFS stage 1 and shift at 5000 rpms?

There are ways to raise the full throttle shift points and not ruin the tranny. You should consider it.
