Default Strange Oil Pressure

I have a prolem with my stock gauge reading lower oil pressure. It will read pefectly normal sitting still..stay in the middle and rise with rpm. As i take off the needle goes down. It will stay at A in NORMAL than rise slightly with rpm. Than sumtimes it will go up high like normal and sumtimes it will stay low and not move at all. Sound like the gauge going bad. I think im gonna get a good auto meter one. Any ideas. Also my dip stick is reading high like 1/2 and inch above full. I think my step dad put in 6quarts. Is there a problem with this. Thanks.

You have too much oil in your car. This puts unwanted strain on the oil pump which can lead to pump failure. My advice is drain some oil out and then check the gauge.

The higher oil level may cause the crank to whip a lot of air into the oil and this is not good as the oil pump doesn't like to pump air instead of oil. High level also puts some strain on the crankshaft seals possibly causing them to leak, so get the extra oil out of the pan ASAP. I don't agree that it puts an extra strain on the oil pump however.
Get a good Autometer oil pressure gauge to be sure what your pressure is really doing.
