The stock is 75 amps. I've killed a few running the stock 4cylinder fan. But just get a 3G alternator from a junkyard. Ask for a 94' GT alternator. There should be a bunch because they use the same 1 for vans, Crown Vics, and other cars. I paid $35 for mine and they're 130 amps. More than enough and I have a real electric fan now and 3 amps for my stereo.

You'll need to clearance your alternator bracket though. No big deal. I used a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, and it worked wonderfully. Search around the forums for a 3G alternator. There's lots of info around o help you out with the swap.

I just installed a PA Performance 130amp alternator that I bought from 5.0 Resto. It says it includes everything needed to install but thats not true, you need to purchase a larger hot wire (they say run 4ga, but 8ga is probably enough unless you run amps) to run to the battery, or buy the kit they sell... Kinda crummy but good thing I got tons of amp wiring laying around (4 years working at a stereo shop). Other than that, its a pretty straight forward install. You will need to clearance the alt bracket, which is more a pain in the rear than the actual install.

You need 4ga becuase of the amount of amp you suppying it wont last as long as 8ga . I use to do alot of highpower CB radio and we use to mount 3-6 320 amp leicnevills alternaors in chevy suburbans . all custome brackets made for each application
