just let it warm up before you get on it. i run the **** outa mine, and it runs just fine. Twisted dont wanna hijack, but what oil did you use that stopped oil consumption?
Thanks for the replies everyone. Ckyguy, I switched over to Valvoline Maxlife. I still can't get a reading on how much the motor is using now, because I haven't really had to add any in 1k miles. Before Maxlife, I would have already had to add about a quart. It's good stuff.

What exactly are you worried about?
Good question. I'm just paranoid in general about my vehicles. I baby them for the most part--letting them get hot before giving them any real throttle, changing the oil every 2500-3000 miles--that sort of thing. I guess I'm worried about something giving out as a result of my occasional romps. It's just hard to believe that something so powerful can last long. My own ignorance, I guess.

i think 5.0's are one of the most tough built engines out there. they were built to be a muscle car so obviously needs to take a pounding! but yet again driving her as a daily driveer always in the 5k really doesnt help the fact that ure gonna keep it longer then you think. put it this way if you treat her nice she'll return the favor. Just ask your wife
See, I know I can run my wife hard without breaking her because she tells me so. I wish my car could talk. At any rate, I treat my car with respect...I just like to have fun every now and then. I just wanted to be reassured that the car would last a while under moderate use. Thanks again, everyone.

As a related question: So how do people break these cars then?

Thanks for the reply. Is your motor built? How long have you been taking it to 6k everyday?

By the way, I love to take mine to 6k as, believe it or not, it seems to make the most power over 5k.

Twisted, from reading this it sounds like you are very responsible and caring towards your vehicles regardless of what they are, and that is already a few steps ahead fo the crowd.... saying that, I dont think you'll have anyproblems as long as routine maintence on fluids and such is performed... dont worry bout it! Personally i never run rpm's over 5000, but thats just me....

All cars are different.

Personally, everytime I back her out of the garage, I smack her around like a dirty girl, and she likes it.
You and me both! If you take care of it, it won't break. And if it does break, fix it to where it won't break again!

anything above 4700 rpm is a waist, you past your peak hp at 4300rpm and losing power the higher you go.
