5.0s are easier to modify than the modular engines (4.6). Keep that in mind if you plan on modding. The aftermarket for 5.0's is ridiculously huge, and it's easier and cheaper to squeeze more power out of them.

when u talk about a 4. stock u really gotta specify... like every1 is say a 96-98 isnt any fast.. basically the same... but get into the later years... 03 04 and u get a large jump in hp... greated it should have better technology becuz its newer... and i dunno y u would ask bone stock... most ppl fix up a mustang a lil... will at least if there are asking about speed there probly goin to fix it up sum... i would say in the long run it wouldnt make major different... everything evens out with cass/power/reliability... u kno u get what u pay for

a bone stock 87-93 will beat a 94-98 weighs more and less hp i believe. anything less then an 87 has lower hp so i dunno. 99 is when they introduced the pi intake & pi heads which flow alot better. also the 99+ puts more to the ground then the 87-93 does, not to mention they respond better to mods. but either way 5.0's sound better and girls dig bigger motors just they dig bigger male genitals . lol

it's a tough one, but then again it's not. as a owner of a 5.0 liter, and 4.6 liter with no way to be bias i'm gonna say the 5.0 liter takes it for me. the 4.6 does have more horsepower, but i clearly think the 5.0 liter is superior although not by much. i actually had my buddy drive my 5.0 liter while i drove my mach 1. we raced, and i have just as much work invested in both cars[other than the flowmaster exhaust on the 5.0 liter] and the 5.0 liter took the mach 1, by less than a second. take that for what it's worth. we could debate all day long about the engines, and break it down though.

my friend has a 96 gt (4.6) and i have a 94 gt (5.0) we put them both in second and at 2k rpm and gunned it (no clutch) it started out equal but then i started pullen on him half car length so in my experience the 5.0 is a little faster and so much easyer to work on. and the parts out there for the 5.0 is insane.if u wana change the headers on a 4.6 dont u have to pull the motor??(thats what i heard i dunno)?

my buddy has a 98gt and hes got pretty much the same mods as i do on my 90lx... so we were on the expressway tonight and we went from about 45-50? (not sure my speedo is messed up) but i was at about 3500 in 3rd and we were dead even untill 4th and then i started pulling away. i think its because for some reason he put longtubes on his car which rob the low end.. so i think if he had shorties we would have been dead even.
